The Negroni is one of the best, most recognizable classics in the cocktail world.
he has been around for 100 years and counting. and the best part is – it’s really simple to make.
This cocktail consists of only 3 ingredients – Campari, Gin, and vermouth.
you can also find hundreds of different variations and twists.
in this recipe, I will teach you how to make the perfect Negroni (in my opinion).
This cocktail can be classified as an Aperitif cocktail, it’s bitter and has a somewhat sweet finish.
How the Negroni was born
The Negroni was first created in Florence, Italy.
the legend says that Count Camillio Negroni asked the bartender in one of his favorites cafes to strengthen his favorite cocktail – the Americano.
The count asked to replace the club soda in the Americano with gin.
the bartender also replaces the traditional lemon peel garnish in the Americano with an Orange peel (Now that’s a good bartender right there!).
The count loved the cocktail so much that the family started to produce it in bottles.
After years of crafting this drink with plain old sweet vermouth, I came across the Martini Fiero.
this vermouth is more citrusy and has some really good notes of orange that perfectly pairs with the Campari and gin.
So I can truly recommend using it, but you can feel free to use any other sweet vermouth you have lying around. as long as he is of good quality.
